This tea caddy is wrapped in Japanese traditional paper "Washi" from Gokanyama (Toyama prefecture) under the top coating. "Washi" is known as tough, bug-proof and really versatile. "Washi" fiber seen through on it creates fine and heart-warming design. This collaboration is a real piece of Japanese traditional craft.

"Sabiurushi"(rust lacquer) which is made of raw lacquer and clay paste is usually used for the base coat, but this tea caddy has a unique texture by applying this rust lacquer for the top coating. This distinctive silver colour is pigmented by tin powder not silver then it helps protect from oxidation.
